Donald Lee “Don” Maxey

Spread the love

Donald Lee “Don” Maxey, age 61, of Martinsville, IL, passed away at 1:51 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his residence. He was born December 1, 1963, in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Leroy James “Bud” Maxey and Ethel Marie (Henderson) Maxey. On November 3, 1990, he married Cindy Leann Clement at the Casey White Oak Church of God in Casey, IL. Their love story began at an IGA deli, where Cindy recalls serving him fried chicken. Over the years, Don would often say that her fried chicken was always better.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-four years, Cindy Maxey of Martinsville, IL; daughters, Brittany Woll (Kyle) of Pierson, IL, Alyssa VanEgmond (Drew) of Martinsville, IL and Morgan McNeill (Dawson) of West Union, IL; grandkids, Hudson VanEgmond, Tucker VanEgmond, Carson Woll, Lincoln McNeill, Kendall Woll, and Lillian McNeill; brothers, Steve Maxey (Debbie) of Casey, IL, Gary Maxey of Westfield, IL and Jon Maxey (Sara) of Martinsville, IL; sister, Karen Doyle (Mike) of Casey, IL; brothers-in-law, Jim Clement and Doug Clement (Becky); sister-in-law, Becky Clement; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father, and mother-in-law, Fred and Janice Clement, and nephew, Joshua Maxey.

Don was a 1981 graduate of Casey High School. He was a Supervisor at Evapco, proudly serving there for thirty-five years. At a young age, on the farm, Don’s granddad sparked his passion for tractors. Don enjoyed tinkering on the farm. A cherished memory is when Papaw refurbished each of his grandkid’s antique pedal tractors. Don loved spending time with his family, especially sitting on the porch, talking with his beautiful daughters, and watching the sky. He built a legacy of love and fun that his family will continue in his memory. Don loved being a husband, but his favorite titles were Dad and Papaw.
