Rich Schelsky of Rockville, IN, smiles after sinking the winning putt in a playoff to capture his first Casey Open title on Sunday. Schelsky shot a 68.

You couldn’t have scripted a better finish for a milestone anniversary. The 75th Annual Casey Open concluded Sunday with the kind of nail-biting drama that folks will be talking about for years to come.

The 75th Annual Casey Open concluded Sunday with a playoff required to determine the men’s champion. Rich Schelsky of Rockville, Indiana, emerged with the title after a competitive final day.

Schelsky finished regulation play with a score of 68. That score was matched by Stacy Vitamiemi, who was in one of the later groups to tee off. The tie forced a sudden-death playoff between the two golfers. Schelsky prevailed in the extra holes to secure his first Casey Open championship.

Winners were also crowned in the tournament’s other divisions. The results are as follows:

  • Ladies: Renee Honselman (Casey)

  • Seniors: Brad Parker (Marshall)

  • Super Seniors (75+): Larry Fossi (Clinton, IN)

  • Jr. Boys: Carson Hall (Casey)

  • Jr. Girls: Leah Correll (Robinson)

The win marks another championship for Casey’s Renee Honselman, a multi-time winner in the ladies’ division.

In addition to the competition, the tournament weekend included a special presentation. During the Casey Open Party on Saturday night, Landry Huisinga, President of the Casey Country Club, presented a plaque to Julie Snyder. Snyder was honored for being selected as the Honorary Chairman for the milestone 75th Casey Open.

Organizers extend their thanks to the many sponsors who supported the event. Those sponsors will be named in upcoming posts. The complete list of flight winners from the tournament will be released tomorrow.
