State-based health insurance marketplace approved
Beginning Nov. 1, Get Covered Illinois will officially become Illinois’ health insurance marketplace.
The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved Illinois’ transition to a state-based marketplace where Illinoisans can enroll in health care coverage.
Illinoisans previously enrolled through Healthcare.gov will transition to Get Covered Illinois for their 2026 coverage.
Law assists internet crimes investigations
A new law that will take effect Jan. 1 will have Illinois State Police resources devoted to investigating internet crimes against children.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed House Bill 2586 Monday.
The measure makes such investigations a permanent function of ISP.
Prisoner sentenced for contraband
A prison inmate has been sentenced to an additional 15 months behind bars and for possession of contraband at a federal facility in Pekin.
Darrell Reed, 35, was sentenced last week and ordered to pay a $100 assessment for receiving and possessing prohibited Schedule III controlled substances.
Reed was already imprisoned for robbery and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
