Casey-Westfield Launches Seven Home Runs in 18-4 Rout of Tri-County

The Casey-Westfield varsity baseball team put on an absolute offensive clinic Tuesday afternoon, launching a staggering seven home runs en route to a commanding 18-4, five-inning non-conference victory over host Tri-County.

The visiting Warriors were relentless at the plate, scoring in every single inning and racking up 15 hits. The Casey-Westfield power surge was too much for the Tri-County pitching staff to contain, as the Warriors managed to take all four Titans pitchers deep at least once.

Casey-Westfield set the tone immediately with a four-run first inning. Tri-County showed early resilience, answering with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame to keep the game within reach at 4-2. However, the Warriors simply refused to slow down, executing a steady, methodical demolition over the ensuing innings. They plated three runs in the second, two in the third, and four in the fourth to build an insurmountable 13-4 advantage.

Tri-County managed a couple of bright spots against the Casey-Westfield pitching staff, primarily courtesy of sophomore Chase Rhode. Rhode had a perfect day in the batter’s box, finishing 2-for-2 with a home run of his own, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Sophomore Anthony Smith also crossed the plate twice and tallied a hit, while Gavin Ruff and Will Dudley each singled to round out the Titans’ five-hit afternoon.

Despite Tri-County pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Casey-Westfield slammed the door in the top of the fifth. The Warriors erupted for a five-run frame to trigger the mercy rule and firmly put the game away.

Tri-County utilized four pitchers in an attempt to slow the bleeding, but Casey-Westfield capitalized on mistakes. Senior Will Dudley surrendered three home runs in his one inning of work, while sophomore Kalvin Budd gave up two long balls. Junior Z. Hildebrand and Rhode each allowed one home run during their time on the mound.
