Lady Warriors shake off slow start to beat Chrisman

CASEY — Playing their second game in two days, the Lady Warriors welcomed the Chrisman Lady Cardinals to Bob Durham Court. Despite a sluggish start, Casey-Westfield opened things up in the second quarter to cruise to a 36-19 victory.
The Lady Cardinals held the upper hand after the first quarter of action, taking a slim 9-8 lead over the Purple and Gold.
The CW offense found a spark in the second quarter, pouring in 12 points. That offensive surge served as a catalyst for the defense, which held Chrisman to just three points in the frame, allowing CW to take a 20-12 lead at the break.
When play resumed in the third quarter, CW posted eight points while Chrisman continued to battle, adding five to their total. Leading 28-17 entering the final period, CW held their guests to just two fourth-quarter points while adding eight of their own to seal the win.
Lucy Moore posted a game-high 16 points, adding five takeaways and four rebounds. Julia Eckerty chipped in eight points and a team-high seven rebounds to go with six assists and a steal.
Chloe Taylor finished with eight points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Madison Gray contributed a bucket, five rebounds, one steal, and an assist. Gracie Taylor recorded six boards, two points, one steal, and one assist. Kayla Clark pulled down three boards and handed out two assists, while Gylly Gilbert added one rebound and two assists.
