July 4th Planning Begins: City Clerk Jeremy Mumford reminded the council that planning for the 4th of July celebration needs to begin soon. Mayor Mike Nichols asked the Downtown Improvement/Festivals committee to meet and start discussions for the annual event.

Park Committee Recommendations: The Park Committee met May 5 and decided to place a historical marker at the west end of the sunken gardens area. They also recommended limiting camping to 14 consecutive nights with a seven-night break required between stays, raising camping rates, and posting campground rules at the bath house. The committee wants to explore online payment options for the campground.

Tree Donation Offer: Sarah Seaton with the Moriah Go Getters offered to donate and plant a tree somewhere in the city park. The Park Committee will work with the group to identify an appropriate location.

Comprehensive Plan Update: Economic Development Director Tom Daughhetee reported good turnout for the comprehensive plan open house, part of the city’s ongoing planning process.

Appointment Ordinance Approved: The council unanimously approved Ordinance #580, described as an appointment ordinance, though specific positions or appointees were not detailed in the meeting minutes.

Utility Workers Recognized: Alderman Marcy Mumford thanked city utility workers who helped with a recent tree planting project in cooperation with another organization identified as “CIA.”

Meeting Minutes Approved: The council approved minutes from both the April 21 regular meeting and an April 28 public hearing, with routine unanimous votes on both items.
