Migrant youth allegedly murdered homeless Chicago man

Three juvenile Venezuelan migrants are part of a group that allegedly attacked, murdered, and robbed a homeless man in downtown Chicago early Sunday, according to prosecutors and a Chicago police report.

CWB Chicago reports that a 16-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boy are facing charges in connection with the fatal stabbing and robbery.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the victim remained unidentified.

Maternal mortality numbers update

According to the latest Maternal Mortality Data Report from the Illinois Department of Public Health, substance use disorders remain the leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths in Illinois.

The report said 116 women died while pregnant or within one year of pregnancy in 2021 and 103 women died during the same time frames in 2022.

IDPH said 43% of pregnancy-associated deaths were due to pregnancy-related causes.

Food safety guidelines

The Illinois Department of Public Health has issued food safety and hygiene reminders for Thanksgiving.

The recommendations include washing hands and utensils, separating raw meat from foods that won’t be cooked, using a food thermometer and refrigerating food within two hours of serving.
