(The Center Square) – A federal grand jury in Chicago has indicted an alleged Sinaloa Cartel boss on drug, firearm and material support of terrorism charges.

Prosecutors say Jesus Omar Ibarra Felix, 49, led a group which engaged in armed conflict and provided security in support of “El Chapo” Joaquin Guzman Loera’s four sons.

The indictment alleges that from 2016 to 2026, Ibarra Felix supplied machine guns to the four and conspired with them and others to import methamphetamine and fentanyl into the United States from Mexico.

A warrant has been issued for Ibarra Felix’s arrest.

ILLINOIS ISSUES INTERNATIONAL PHYSICIANS LICENSE

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Division of Professional Regulation has its first license under a new pathway that will allow internationally-trained physicians to provide care in Illinois.

The International Medical Graduate licensure pathway allows professionals to practice under the supervision of a licensed physician at an approved institution for a period of two years.

The announcement comes a few days after state lawmakers questioned IDFPR leaders why physician assistants were leaving for Iowa because the licensing process takes months longer in Illinois.

FISHING LICENSES GO ON SALE

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says fishing licenses and stamps are now on sale for the 2026 season.

A standard, non-discounted resident fishing license costs $15. Licenses can be bought online and at IDNR-authorized vendors.
