(The Center Square) – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is asking Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Chicago officials to not release a Venezuelan migrant charged with killing a Loyola University student in Chicago last Thursday.

Jose Medina Medina, 25, was arrested by Chicago police and charged with the murder of Sheridan Gorman, 18, of Yorktown Heights, New York. Medina was apprehended twice in 2023 and released both times.

CTU MOTION DENIED IN AUDITS CASE

A Cook County judge on Monday denied a Chicago Teachers’ Union motion for summary judgment and granted plaintiffs’ request to compel discovery in a case over the union’s lack of releasing financial audits to its members.

Liberty Justice Center chair Sara Albrecht said the court saw through CTU’s effort to avoid scrutiny.

LJC filed suit in October 2024 on behalf of four CTU members after they said the union failed to produce the audits for four years.
