Goble’s 10 Strikeouts and Powerful Offense Lead Casey-Westfield Past Edwards County 11-4

The Casey-Westfield varsity softball team unleashed a power-hitting clinic on Tuesday, launching five home runs to power their way to an 11-4 home victory over Edwards County. Backed by a dominant complete-game pitching performance from Ava Goble, the hosts steadily built an insurmountable lead.

Casey-Westfield wasted no time asserting its dominance, erupting for four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take immediate control. They continued to apply pressure throughout the contest, adding two runs in the second inning, a single run in the third, and another in the fifth to establish an 8-3 advantage.

The long ball was the defining feature of the Casey-Westfield offense. Sophomore G. Gilbert was nearly unstoppable at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and three runs scored. Sophomore Gabriela Frye also showcased her power, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and three runs scored.

Arhianna Bonds provided consistent offense, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored, while Lucy Moore added a home run of her own in a 1-for-3 performance that included an RBI sacrifice fly. The hosts also remained aggressive on the basepaths, swiping six stolen bases, with Bonds leading the way with two.

In the circle, senior Ava Goble was in total command for Casey-Westfield. Goble tossed a complete game, scattering six hits and allowing just two earned runs over seven innings. She struck out 10 batters, walked only two, and threw 103 pitches to keep the Edwards County lineup at bay.

Edwards County struggled to generate consistent offense against Goble, though Falon Richards provided a major bright spot. Richards had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, a double, and two runs scored. Allison Groff added a double in a 2-for-4 performance.

Groff also went the distance in the circle for Edwards County, throwing 133 pitches over seven innings. She struck out six and issued two walks, but the sheer volume of Casey-Westfield power hitting proved too difficult to overcome.

Casey-Westfield sealed the 11-4 victory by pushing three final insurance runs across the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning.
