An unrelenting offensive attack propelled the Casey-Westfield varsity softball team to a commanding 17-4 non-conference victory over Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin (BHRA) on Thursday. The visitors combined for 19 hits, including a pair of home runs, to secure the run-rule win in five innings.

Casey-Westfield wasted no time establishing dominance, erupting for five runs in the top of the first inning. They added three more in the second and put the game completely out of reach with an eight-run explosion in the third.

Senior Ava Goble and sophomore Arhianna Bonds provided the primary fireworks for the Casey-Westfield lineup. Goble blasted a home run and drove in a game-high four runs while scoring once. Bonds was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

The production extended throughout the visiting lineup. Junior Anna Karras turned in a flawless 3-for-3 performance, scoring three times, driving in a run, and stealing three bases. Senior Lucy Moore matched her with three hits of her own, driving in two runs and crossing the plate once. Sophomore G. Gilbert also contributed a pair of RBIs to the potent Casey-Westfield attack.

In the circle, a trio of Casey-Westfield pitchers kept the BHRA offense at bay for most of the afternoon. Goble started and earned the win, tossing two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out two. Bonds and Gilbert pitched in relief to close out the final three innings.

Despite the lopsided score, BHRA managed to find some offensive rhythm in the middle innings. Junior Emma Shelato provided the highlight for the home team, launching a home run and scoring twice. Freshman Giana Brown put together a solid multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Junior C. Carpenter also chipped in, driving in two of BHRA’s four runs with a timely hit.

Senior Eva Ronto took the loss for BHRA, starting the game and battling through two innings against the red-hot Casey-Westfield lineup before giving way to sophomore A. Williams in relief.
