The Casey-Westfield varsity baseball team saw its Saturday momentum stifled in the afternoon cap of a home slate, falling 7-1 to a formidable Breese Central squad in non-conference action at Jerald Barr Field.
Coming off a hard-fought 6-4 morning victory over Farina South Central, the host Warriors faced a tough turnaround against a Breese Central team that had also defeated Farina South Central 9-0 earlier in the day.
Breese Central, boasting a strong 11-3 overall record, relied on a dominant pitching performance and a potent lineup to secure the road win. The Cougars entered the contest averaging an impressive 8.6 runs per game, and their offense proved to be too much for Casey-Westfield to contain over seven innings.
While the Warriors (8-7) have consistently generated offense this season—averaging more than six runs per contest—they struggled to string together hits against Breese Central’s pitching staff. The Cougars’ defense successfully contained Casey-Westfield, limiting the hosts to just a single run on the afternoon.
The 7-1 defeat gave Casey-Westfield a split for their Saturday doubleheader, bringing their home record to 6-1 on the 2026 season. Breese Central, meanwhile, continued its hot streak, improving its road record to a stellar 5-2.
