Goble, Gilbert Combine for No-Hitter as Casey-Westfield Routs Lawrenceville 13-0

Senior Ava Goble and sophomore G. Gilbert combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter, pacing the Casey-Westfield varsity softball team to a dominant 13-0 conference victory on the road against Lawrenceville on Monday afternoon.

Goble set the commanding tone in the circle from the opening pitch, striking out eight batters over three flawless innings of work. Gilbert seamlessly took over in relief, tossing the final two frames and adding a pair of strikeouts to preserve the no-hitter. The Casey-Westfield duo did not issue a single walk, with a lone defensive error keeping them from a perfect game.

The pitching masterclass was backed by an explosive offensive showcase, highlighted by a spectacular performance from senior Lucy Moore. Moore was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored, and a staggering game-high six RBIs to anchor the 12-hit attack.

Casey-Westfield grabbed control early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The visitors pulled away in the middle innings, plating three runs in both the third and fourth frames before a five-run fifth put the run rule firmly into effect. Gilbert helped her own cause at the plate with a home run, driving in four runs on the day. Goble also delivered a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Junior Anna Karras provided a reliable spark at the top of the order, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base.

Lawrenceville struggled to find any momentum against the overpowering Casey-Westfield pitching staff. Senior Allison Evans managed to reach base and secure a stolen base for the hosts’ only offensive highlight. In the circle, Evans took the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) over two innings of work. The Lawrenceville defense compounded their struggles, committing multiple costly errors throughout the contest that fueled the Casey-Westfield rallies.
