The Mt. Carmel varsity baseball team unleashed a relentless offensive assault in the early frames, cruising to a comfortable 12-4 conference victory over visiting Casey-Westfield on Thursday afternoon.

Mt. Carmel (25-26) took control immediately, capitalizing on a potent 13-hit attack and a shaky Casey-Westfield defense that committed six errors. The hosts set the tone with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, added another in the second, and then blew the game open. A three-run third inning and a massive five-run fourth gave Mt. Carmel an insurmountable 12-1 advantage before the midpoint of the contest.

Junior S. Guanipa was the primary run producer for the hosts, turning in a stellar 2-for-4 performance that included a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Senior Brendan Bowser served as a constant sparkplug at the top of the order, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Jayden Smith and Ryder Sloss also delivered multi-hit games, with Sloss ripping a double and reaching base on a walk. As a team, Mt. Carmel showcased aggressive baserunning, swiping six bags to keep the Casey-Westfield pitching staff out of rhythm.

On the mound, sophomore River Deisher earned the victory for Mt. Carmel. Deisher provided four strong innings of work, allowing just two hits and one unearned run while striking out one and walking two. Keegan Linson also pitched three innings for the hosts, yielding three runs (two earned) on three hits.

Casey-Westfield (25-26) struggled to contain the early Mt. Carmel surge but continued to battle in the later innings. Trailing 12-1, the visitors scratched across two runs in the top of the fifth and added a final run in the seventh, but they simply could not overcome the massive early deficit.
