The Casey-Westfield varsity softball team utilized three home runs and a dominant pitching performance from senior Ava Goble to secure a commanding 10-3 conference victory on the road against Paris on Monday.

The Warriors wasted no time asserting their dominance, erupting for four runs in the top of the first inning to take an early stranglehold on the game. Casey-Westfield’s offense proved incredibly efficient throughout the afternoon, scoring their 10 runs on just seven hits while capitalizing heavily on five Paris defensive errors and five walks.

The long ball was Casey-Westfield’s primary weapon. Goble, junior Ella Whitacre, and sophomore G. Gilbert each launched home runs to power the offense. Sophomore Gabriela Frye was a vital catalyst at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3, scoring three runs, and wreaking havoc on the basepaths with three stolen bases.

In the circle, Goble was masterful. The senior right-hander earned the win, tossing six strong innings and allowing just one earned run on seven hits. She routinely overpowered the Paris lineup, racking up nine strikeouts while navigating around four walks. Sophomore Arhianna Bonds entered in the seventh inning to seal the game in relief.

Paris struggled to overcome their early deficit and defensive miscues, despite actually out-hitting the Warriors 8-7 on the day. Junior Emma Kraemer led a resilient offensive effort for the home team, going a perfect 3-for-4 at the plate. Freshman Kyndal Fuqua also contributed a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4.

The home team managed to break through with two runs in the fifth inning and added one more in the sixth to chip away at the deficit, but they ultimately left 11 runners on base. Freshman Ava Tarr took the loss in the circle for Paris, pitching six innings before freshman Leah Sanders took over in the seventh.
