CASEY, IL – In a high-scoring conference showdown, the Casey-Westfield varsity softball team outlasted Newton in a 20-12 offensive marathon on Tuesday.

The Warriors’ lineup was relentless, racking up 20 hits and scoring in all but one inning. Gabriela Frye led the historic offensive output, driving in a staggering nine runs on a 4-for-5 performance that included two doubles and a home run. Lucy Moore also provided massive power for Casey-Westfield, finishing 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs.

The game began with a quick start for the home team, as the Warriors put up four runs in the first inning and six in the second to establish an early cushion. Despite a resilient Newton squad that kept pace with 14 hits and stayed within striking distance through the middle frames, the Warriors’ ability to respond to every Newton rally proved to be the difference.

Ella Whitacre added to the power surge with a home run and three RBIs, while Anna Karras contributed a perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate, drawing three walks and swiping four bases.

Arhianna Bonds provided the bulk of the work on the mound for Casey-Westfield, tossing five innings and allowing six runs to secure the win. While the defensive side of the game saw some challenges for both clubs, the Warriors’ offensive consistency ensured they stayed in control throughout the afternoon.
