The Casey-Westfield varsity softball team put on an offensive clinic on Saturday, overwhelming Villa Grove in a 16-1 victory that saw the Warriors rack up 14 hits and 16 runs in just three innings of work.

Casey-Westfield wasted no time asserting control, plating four runs in the first inning and another four in the second. The team truly broke the game open in the third, sending a barrage of runners across the plate for an eight-run frame that forced an early conclusion to the contest.

The Warriors’ lineup proved relentless, led by Arhianna Bonds, who delivered a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate with four RBIs. Gabriela Frye also excelled, finishing 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three driven in. Ava Goble provided significant power, contributing three RBIs, while Ella Whitacre added a home run to the offensive onslaught.

In the circle, Goble was dominant. The senior pitcher tossed three innings of no-hit ball, issuing two walks while striking out seven Villa Grove batters. G. Gilbert came on in relief for the final frame, surrendering one run on two hits.

Villa Grove struggled to find traction against the Warriors’ pitching, managing only three hits throughout the game. Their lone run came in the fourth inning, but by then, the deficit was insurmountable.

The victory moves Casey-Westfield to a 25-26 record as they continue to find momentum late in the season.
