Charles Dewain Harlan, 73, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, formerly of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Greentree Assisted Living in Mt. Vernon. He was born February 16, 1952, in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Philoman Glen Harlan and Edith Ellen (Marlow) Harlan.

Charles attended Cumberland High School and dedicated over 40 years to his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He was a member of the Oldtimers Car Club for more than seven years, reflecting his passion for automobiles and fellowship with fellow enthusiasts.

On September 4, 1976, he married Kim Michelle Winnett in Greenup, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kim Harlan of Mt. Vernon; siblings, Jack Harlan (JoAnna) of West Frankfort, Illinois, Gary Harlan (Donna) of West Frankfort, Illinois, and Sharon Bartlett of California; father-in-law, Jim Winnett of Casey, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Tami Fritts (Kerry) of Greenup, Illinois, and Kris Spraker (Butch) of Casey, Illinois; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Edith Harlan; brothers, Jim Harlan and William (Bud) Harlan; mother-in-law, Sandra Winnett; and niece, Ellen Bartlett.

Graveside service and burial will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Harmony Cemetery, rural Greenup, Illinois, with Phillip Palmer officiating.
