  • The June Summer Reading Program, themed “Level Up,” saw large attendance and fantastic participation in its weekly reading challenges.

  • Through a partnership with the Marshall Library, the Casey library continues to offer the Imagination Library program, which provides free books to local children from birth to age five.

  • The book-gifting program is sponsored by Rural King and covers residents in the 62420 and 62474 zip codes.

The Casey Township Library Board of Trustees on Thursday, June 26, 2025, heard positive updates on two of its key community outreach programs, which have seen robust participation from local families.

Librarian Gretchen Murphy reported that the June Summer Reading Program was a major success. The program, which featured a “Level Up” theme, drew large crowds each week. Murphy noted that participation in the reading challenges was “fantastic.” The final day of the program was sponsored by the Friends of the Library organization.

Murphy also provided an update on the Imagination Library program. Casey Library participates as a partner with the Marshall Library to offer the popular book-gifting service. The program mails one free, high-quality book each month to enrolled children from birth until their fifth birthday.

The initiative in the Casey area is sponsored by Rural King, allowing the library to provide the service at no cost to families living in the 62420 and 62474 zip codes. The program aims to foster early literacy skills and a love of reading from a young age.
