Meeting Summary and Briefs: Casey Township Library Board of Trustees for August 7, 2025
Casey Township Library Board of Trustees Meeting | August 7, 2025
The Casey Township Library Board took another step toward replacing its failed air conditioner on Thursday, August 7, 2025, by deciding to seek a third bid for the project. However, the board also learned that the Friends of the Library will not be providing financial assistance for the costly repair. Due to the urgency, the board plans to approve a final bid via a “texting” vote. For more on this developing story, see our full article.
In financial news, the board renewed a $90,000 certificate of deposit at a favorable 4.15% interest rate and reported on other library investments. You can read more about the library’s financial health in our separate story.
Imagination Library Promotion Planned for Popcorn Festival
The library will promote its popular Imagination Library program during the Casey Popcorn Festival. Librarian Gretchen Murphy announced plans to set up a table near the musical event, where staff will hand out brochures and feature a life-size cutout of Dolly Parton for photo opportunities. The program, which provides a free book each month to children ages 0-5, currently has 41 local kids enrolled and is sponsored by Rural King.
Consent Agenda Approved
The board unanimously approved its consent agenda, which included the July 2025 financial and activity reports, the minutes from the July meeting, and the payment of bills. The motion was made by trustee Sharon Durham and seconded by President Susie Mathews.
Next Meeting Scheduled
The next meeting of the Casey Township Library Board of Trustees will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the library.
