Lake Land College one of 10 national recipients of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Scaling Apprenticeship grant
Lake Land College was recently named one of 10 recipients of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Scaling Apprenticeship grant.
With funding from Ascendum Education Group and in partnership with New America and Job Forward, the Scaling Apprenticeship grant seeks to empower community colleges across the nation to expand apprenticeship opportunities and develop new apprenticeship programs that lead to sustainable careers and address local employment needs.
Under this grant, the ACCT will provide the tools, support and structure necessary for the 10 participating community colleges to develop and expand apprenticeship programs and serve as program sponsors in several key industries, including specialized heavy equipment operation, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, education, healthcare, diesel technology, welding, sterile manufacturing, information technology and agriculture.
Lake Land has prioritized the development of apprenticeships in recent years through the College’s Center for Business & Industry, leveraging partnerships with local businesses to build real-world, on-the-job training programs that help students advance their skills and support the region’s workforce. The Scaling Apprenticeship grant will allow Lake Land College to expand on its existing apprenticeship framework and create additional opportunities for local apprenticeship pathways.
“We are very excited about this opportunity, as it will give us additional guidance and structure around scaling apprenticeship, which is growing quickly, at our institution,” said Bonne Moore, Director of the Center for Business & Industry.
