Man charged with soliciting murder of ICE official

A ranking member of a Chicago street gang has been charged with soliciting murder of a senior immigration enforcement official involved in “Operation Midway Blitz,” federal prosecutors said Monday.

Juan Espinoza Martinez, 37, stated in a Snapchat message “2k on information when you get him” and “10k if you take him down,” prosecutors allege. Martinez was arrested Monday morning.

Two cases of Legionnaires’ disease in Bloomingdale

The Illinois Department of Public Health and the DuPage County Health Department are investigating two cases of Legionnaires’ disease linked to a skilled nursing facility in Bloomingdale.

IDPH said both individuals have recovered. Illinois has reported 287 cases of Legionnaires’ disease statewide. IDPH says cases must be reported to health departments within three days.

Conservation officers recognized

Numerous Illinois conservation police officers and civilians are being recognized for their service to the people of Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced the Officer of the Year is Austin Priest, who conducted 50 major investigations including fraud, baiting and poaching cases.

Jeffery Holt got the Civilian Hero Award for saving someone who fell into ice back in February in Winnebago County.
