Bringing History to Life: Sixth Graders Tour Springfield
Sixth-grade students stepped out of the classroom and into the pages of history during their annual trip to Springfield. The visit served as the culmination of their studies on Abraham Lincoln and state government. Before the trip, students deeply engaged with the past by analyzing the Gettysburg Address, and their hard work paid off when they had the rare opportunity to see one of Lincoln’s own handwritten copies in person. The immersive experience continued as they explored the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and took guided tours of the Capitol, the Old State Capitol, and Lincoln’s final resting place, Lincoln’s Tomb. It was a day of powerful, firsthand learning that made history tangible and unforgettable.
