Casey-Westfield School Board Meeting | October 20, 2025

The Casey-Westfield Community Unit School District C-4 board on Monday, October 20, 2025, reviewed the district’s strong financial health and heard extensive reports showcasing student success across academic, athletic, and artistic endeavors. Administrators from both district schools provided detailed updates on achievements, including state-level competition qualifiers and first-place team wins. For more on these accomplishments, see the full story.

Financially, the district maintains an operating fund balance equivalent to seven months of expenses, exceeding state recommendations. More details are available in our story on the superintendent’s financial report. The board was also informed of a City of Casey proposal to create a five-year, 100% tax abatement for residential improvements within the Clark County Enterprise Zone to spur housing development.

Board Approves Staffing Changes
The board approved several employment recommendations. Samantha Parker was hired as a long-term substitute music teacher at Monroe for the second semester of the 2025-26 school year. The board accepted the resignation of Stephanie Lamb, a 1:1 Aide at the Jr./Sr. High School, and hired Patricia Repp to fill the position. Additionally, Stacey Williams was employed as a Jr./Sr. High School Evening Custodian, and LeeAnn Spencer was hired as a Roosevelt Evening Housekeeper.

District to Seek Bids for Snow Removal
As part of its consent agenda, the board authorized Superintendent Mike Shackelford to seek bids for snow removal services for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. This routine action prepares the district for winter weather by initiating the process to secure a contractor for clearing parking lots and sidewalks at school properties.

School Maintenance Grant Application Authorized
The board formally authorized the superintendent to complete and submit the FY 2026 School Maintenance Project Grant Application. This state-level grant program assists school districts with funding for projects related to the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of school buildings, helping to offset costs for essential facility work.
