CASEY — The Casey-Westfield Lady Warriors opened the 2025-26 campaign in style, welcoming the Villa Grove Lady Blue Devils to Bob Durham Court. With a rowdy student section anticipating something special, the team delivered a 50-12 rout, highlighted by a major career milestone for senior Lucy Moore.
Moore, who entered the game just 22 points shy of 1,000 for her career, reached the mark at the 7:39 mark of the fourth quarter.
From the opening tip, CW shook off the first-game jitters faster than Villa Grove, jumping out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Purple and Gold offense erupt for 20 points as the on-court chemistry began to gel. At intermission, CW held a dominant 30-6 advantage.
Scoring slowed slightly in the second half, but the Lady Warriors continued to extend their lead, holding a 41-10 advantage at the end of the third.
Just 21 seconds into the final frame, Moore hit a mid-range jumper from the right side of the lane for her 22nd point of the game—and the 1,000th of her career. Play was temporarily stopped to mark the occasion with a commemorative ball and a well-earned round of applause from the crowd.
Moore led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, pulling down five rebounds to go with four steals and one block.
Gracie Taylor chipped in nine points, three rebounds, and a steal. Julia Eckerty finished with six points, six rebounds, and seven assists, while Chloe Taylor contributed six points, seven rebounds, two steals, and one assist in her varsity debut.
Gylly Gilbert added five points, three rebounds, a steal, and an assist. Kayla Clark dominated the boards with eight rebounds and added an assist. Madison Gray recorded three assists, two blocked shots, and two rebounds, while Kennady Fuller added two points.

History in the making: Senior Lucy Moore pulls up for a mid-range jumper early in the fourth quarter against Villa Grove. This shot marked the 1,000th point of her varsity career, capping off a 22-point performance in the season opener.
