Warriors dominate Cisne in home opener, 96-34

The Casey-Westfield Warriors welcomed Cisne for their home opener and established dominance immediately, cruising to a massive 96-34 non-conference victory. The Junior Varsity squad completed the sweep with a 56-36 win.
Varsity Action
Leighton Jones opened the scoring off an assist from Jackson High. After Cisne hit their lone basket of the first quarter, the Warriors unleashed a torrent of offense.
Casey-Westfield rattled off 27 unanswered points, with High, Jones, and Daryn Hupp leading the charge. The Warrior defense was suffocating, creating multiple transition opportunities. Leading 29-2, the Purple and Gold continued to score at will. Jones found High for an uncontested three-pointer, and a steal by Landon Justice resulted in a layup for a 34-4 advantage.
Back-to-back steals by Jack Julius led to an easy layup for Jones. The cycle of deflections and steals by the CW defense fueled easy transition baskets, building a commanding 60-14 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, the Warriors rotated multiple lineups but continued to build on their advantage, outscoring the guests 23-20. The Warrior defense pitched a shutout in the fourth quarter while adding 13 points to the board to finalize the 96-34 victory.
Leighton Jones exploded for a career-high 30 points, scoring all of them in the first half. Jackson High added 14 points, while Daryn Hupp and Landon Justice each scored nine. Drake Worby and Riley Phillips finished with eight points apiece.
Fred Thomas and Justice led the rebounding effort with six boards each. Julius anchored the defense with five steals, followed by Clement with three.
Junior Varsity Action
The JV Warriors scored early and often to secure an impressive 56-36 win over Cisne on Bob Durham Court.
CW posted 15 points in the first quarter while holding Cisne to six. The Warriors continued to fire on all cylinders in the second, taking a 29-16 halftime lead. After a slower third quarter, the offense reignited in the fourth with 17 points to seal the double-digit win.
Landon Justice recorded a double-double with a game-high 14 points and 14 rebounds. Will Moore finished with 12 points, while Drake Worby added nine points.
