The plans are currently under review by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), with work scheduled to begin this summer.

Regarding department facilities, Richardson reported that construction on the new building is complete. The department’s next step is to update the exterior of the old building to coordinate with the new structure.

Richardson also noted that the department has produced 150,000 gallons of blacktop and that the second round of mowing is nearly finished. Additionally, the department underwent a full-day inspection by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), which resulted in zero violations.
