Casey Township Library Board Meeting | Dec. 18, 2025

The Casey Township Library Board met on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, to close out the year’s business, primarily focusing on personnel compensation and the building expansion project. The meeting, led by President Susie Mathews, saw the approval of hourly raises and bonuses for the library staff. The board also scrutinized an unexpected bill related to architectural prints for the expansion and heard updates regarding the Friends of the Library leadership.

Friends of the Library Leadership: Librarian Gretchen Murphy reported that Daughhetee is stepping down as President of the Friends of the Library Board. Daughhetee will remain an active member of the group and the Fundraising Committee. The position of president and other offices are expected to be filled at the group’s next meeting. The board also briefly discussed the legal grounds for accepting large future funds and current 501c3 status.

Imagination Library Update: Librarian Murphy provided an update on the Imagination Library program. Currently, 85 children, ranging from birth to age 5, are signed up for the literacy program.

Program Attendance: Attendance at library programs has been down over the past month. Murphy attributed the decline to library closings for holidays and winter weather concerns.

Schedule Change: The board voted to adjourn at 5:56 p.m. There will be no meeting in January unless a special meeting is required. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 5, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
