First Annual Laker Academic Invitational to be Held for Local High School Students

Spread the love

On Friday, February 6, Lake Land will host local high school students for the first-ever Laker Academic Invitational, a competitive event designed to challenge and recognize academic excellence.

During the event, more than 300 students across 17 local high schools will compete in a series of multiple-choice exams, demonstrating their knowledge in biology, chemistry, computer science, software applications, English, mathematics and physics. Through these experiences, the event fosters curiosity and confidence as students challenge themselves in a supportive environment and explore future college and career pathways.

The Laker Academic Invitational was designed to provide an engaging academic challenge for high school students following the discontinuation of the traditional ACES competition, which was previously held every year at Lake Land College.

“We received an overwhelming response from the community that showed just how much ACES meant for high schools and their students, so we wanted to do what we could to ensure the event lives on,” explained Tessa Wiles, Director of Dual Credit and Honors Experience. “We’re thankful for everyone who helped make this possible, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it has on students and the community.”
