Casey-Westfield’s extracurricular teams reported a successful month of competition in reports submitted to the School Board on February 23.
Principal Jim Sullivan announced that the 7th-grade volleyball team captured the LEIC championship title. Success continued on the academic front, as the High School Scholastic Bowl team secured a 2nd place finish at the Illinois State Masonic Academic Bowl Sectional Tournament on February 21.
Looking ahead, Mrs. Tharp and Ms. Hines are preparing their classes to participate in the Special Olympics in May. The group plans to sell shirts again this year to support their competition costs.
The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter has also been active. In addition to a Valentine’s Day cookie fundraiser that supported local charities, the culinary students provided event catering services for the girls’ regional tournament, preparing specialized meals for visiting coaches and officials.
