The Casey-Westfield varsity softball team capitalized on a barrage of Neoga fielding errors, erupting for a massive 12-run third inning to secure a 17-5 non-conference road victory on Thursday.

Casey-Westfield took control early and completely dismantled the host team in a game shortened to four innings. Neoga struggled defensively from the outset, committing eight costly errors that ultimately led to 13 unearned runs for the Warriors.

Senior Lucy Moore anchored the Casey-Westfield offense, turning in a flawless 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Moore blasted a home run and drove in a game-high four runs. Gabriela Frye also shined at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a pair of stolen bases. Ella Whitacre and G. Gilbert each contributed triples and scored three times to keep the pressure on Neoga’s pitching staff.

In the circle, sophomore Arhianna Bonds was dominant for the Warriors. She earned the win after pitching two shutout innings, allowing just a single hit while striking out six of the ten batters she faced.

Neoga finally broke through offensively in the bottom of the fourth inning, pushing across five runs against Casey-Westfield’s bullpen. Reyna Coy led Neoga’s late surge, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while J. Brandenburg and Lillian Denson each recorded a hit and scored a run.

Hannah Propst took the loss for Neoga, allowing 12 runs—though only three were earned—on eight hits over 2.1 innings of work.
