The Casey-Westfield varsity softball team continued its dominant weekend run, overpowering St. Thomas More 16-1 during a home tournament matchup on Saturday. The Warriors utilized a relentless 14-hit offensive attack and an excellent performance in the circle to secure the four-inning, run-rule victory.

Sophomore pitcher Arhianna Bonds earned the complete-game win for Casey-Westfield, stifling the St. Thomas More lineup from start to finish. Bonds tossed a four-inning one-hitter, allowing just one unearned run while striking out five batters and issuing two walks.

Offensively, the Warriors broke the game wide open during the middle innings. After scratching across a single run in the bottom of the first, Casey-Westfield responded to St. Thomas More’s lone second-inning run with a massive six-run frame to take a commanding 7-1 lead. They kept their foot on the gas, adding five more runs in the third and closing out the game with a four-run fourth inning.

Senior Ava Goble provided the lineup’s biggest blast, launching a home run and racking up a game-high four RBIs while scoring three times. Fellow senior Lucy Moore was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs to anchor the middle of the order.

The Warriors showcased dangerous hitting top-to-bottom, with six different players recording extra-base hits. Sophomore Gabriela Frye went 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Junior Ella Whitacre added a 2-for-2 performance that included a double, two runs, and an RBI, while G. Gilbert tallied two hits, a double, and two RBIs.

St. Thomas More struggled to contain the Warriors on the basepaths, as Casey-Westfield swiped eight stolen bases as a team. Anna Karras and Addison Seaton recorded two steals apiece to constantly put pressure on the Bulldogs’ defense.

Emma Remenji took the loss for St. Thomas More, allowing nine runs (three earned) on seven hits over 2.1 innings while striking out five. C. Schweighart pitched in relief, surrendering seven runs on seven hits in two-thirds of an inning.
