Goble Dominates in the Circle, Casey-Westfield Offense Explodes in 15-0 Rout of Woodlawn

Casey-Westfield’s varsity softball team delivered a masterful performance on Saturday, pairing an explosive offensive start with shutdown pitching to secure a 15-0 home tournament victory over Woodlawn. The game was called after four innings due to the run rule, as Casey-Westfield improved their overall record to 25-26.

The offensive narrative was written entirely in the first inning. Casey-Westfield sent batter after batter to the plate, overwhelming Woodlawn’s pitching staff to push 13 runs across the diamond before the first frame concluded. The lineup combined for an impressive 16 hits on the day, demonstrating exceptional plate discipline and aggressive baserunning.

Sophomores Gabriela Frye and Arhianna Bonds paced the Casey-Westfield lineup, each recording three hits. Bonds added two runs scored and an RBI, while Frye scored twice and drove in a run. Senior Lucy Moore and junior Ella Whitacre also swung productive bats, both lacing doubles and collecting two hits apiece. Moore crossed the plate three times, while Whitacre scored twice and stole a base. Sophomore G. Gilbert chipped in with a multi-hit performance, tallying two hits and two runs.

While the offense built an insurmountable lead, senior Ava Goble completely commanded the circle for Casey-Westfield. Goble tossed a four-inning shutout, striking out nine Woodlawn batters while allowing just two hits and issuing two walks. Her ability to consistently overpower opposing hitters kept Woodlawn from gaining any momentum or mounting a response.

Woodlawn (25-26) struggled to find answers on either side of the ball. Senior Hannah McKinney took the loss in the circle, surrendering 14 runs on 12 hits over 1.2 innings of work. Junior Rylee Pryor provided 1.1 innings of relief, allowing one earned run on four hits. Offensively, Woodlawn managed a handful of singles from McKinney, Z. Kirkpatrick, Jacie Kehrer, and Avery England, while junior Andrea Kibler drew a walk and successfully stole two bases.

Casey-Westfield’s defense was steady behind Goble, committing no errors and ensuring that Woodlawn’s few baserunners were quickly stranded. The team tacked on single runs in the second and fourth innings to finalize the 15-0 result.
