Roberta May Decker, 91
Roberta May Decker, 91, of Casey, Illinois, passed away at 7:07 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at her home. She was born on June 25, 1934, the daughter of Charles Albert Kuhn and Mary M. (Malcom) Kuhn. On August 10, 1951, she married Billy Gene Decker in Marshall, Illinois; they celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage before his passing on May 19, 2020.
Roberta attended Casey High School and worked as a filing clerk for Moore Business Forms in Charleston, Illinois, for twenty-six years. She was a faithful member of the Casey First Christian Church where she served as a deacon. She enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with friends and family. Over the years, she was delighted with square dancing and riding motorcycles with Gene. Friends and neighbors treasured seeing Roberta as she rode around town on her golf cart.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Stephen Decker (Alisha) of Martinsville, Illinois, Michael Collins (Charity) of Dayton, Ohio, Anthony Collins (Jamie) of Casey, Illinois, and Christine Decker (Darren) of Guyton, Georgia; step-grandchildren, Russell Vernon (Tracy) of Casey, Illinois, and Rick Vernon (Dawn) of Stillman Valley, Illinois; nine great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Carl Vernon of Casey, Illinois. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and nieces, her church family, and many friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; sons, Charles “Chuck” Allen Decker and William Stephen Decker (Vickie); daughter, Deborah Sue Vernon; and step-grandson, Richard Reddick.
A memorial service honoring Roberta and Gene’s lives will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Casey First Christian Church with Pastor Adam Solorio officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Casey First Christian Church, 200 SE 8th Street, Casey, Illinois. Burial will follow in Jack Oak Cemetery, Union Center, Illinois, with graveside military rites by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion.
