Dennis Eugene Redman, 81

Spread the love

Dennis Eugene Redman, 81, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on September 21, 1943, to Victor Pearl Redman and Hazel Irene (Davidson) Redman. On May 18, 1973, he married Diana (Darling) Redman, the love of his life. In May, they joyfully celebrated fifty-two years of marriage.

Dennis grew up in Westfield, Illinois, attending Oilfield Grade School and was a 1961 graduate of Westfield High School. He attended SIU Carbondale until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Dennis was stationed in Korea and after he was honorably discharged, he returned home to help his father run Westfield Grain and Fertilizer alongside his brother and sisters for almost fifty years. Dennis continued to work for Littlejohn Grain for another nine years. He completed his working years by joining Ron and Jordan Simonton on the family farm.

Dennis enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, motocross, coaching his daughters’ sports, skiing, hiking, and teaching his grandchildren to drive, shoot guns, and play cards. He served on the Westfield Bank Board of Directors, was a lifelong member of Round Grove Sportsman Club, and was inducted into the ASA Softball Hall of Fame in 2017. Above all, he cherished time with his family. He was a constant source of wisdom, encouragement, and love.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Diana; daughters, Kim Vidoni (Chad), Kylie Foster (Jeremy), and Lindsay Tipmore (Randy); grandchildren, Casey, Kaitlyn, Madyson, Makenzie, Zachary, Hugh, and Dakota; sisters, Carolyn Paul (Bob) and Sandra Lamb (Steve); brother, Mark Redman; and sister-in-law, Marsha Orrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; niece, Megan Paul; nephew, Matthew Orrell; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, Illinois, with graveside military rites by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Avenue, Casey, Illinois.

Memorial contributions may be made to Casey Girls Softball Association, P.O. Box 461, Casey, Illinois 62420; ASA Softball Hall of Fame Museum, 104 E. Buckeye, Apt. #5, Casey, Illinois 62420; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
